Rewind<==> Row, Row, Row Your Boat for a Cause

This was the second annual DragonBoat Race of Acworth benefiting Loving Arms Cancer Outreach and DragonBoat Atlanta.

I'm thankful to the group of people pictured above -- team Thrive to Survive, who graciously participated and raised funds this year. Shout out to Rhonda, fellow survivor and Advisory board member, who raised over $700!

What a fun day on in Acworth at Dallas Landing! The night before the big race day I captured this phenomenal sunset. God is an awesome wonder. I love how He gives us a glimpse of His glory and majesty through things like sunsets.

I captained a team of 20 paddlers and 1 drummer. There were 14 cancer survivors on our boat.

Collectively, our team raised over $2000. We were the Survivor Champs in 2017. This year, we didn't uphold our title. But, we certainly had fun paddling our way to the finish line in each of our races. Dragon Boat Racing is more about being in sync than strength and power. I don't know if I worked harder this year or if I was less effective, but I sure felt cardio winded (yep -- made that up).

Unlike last year, the weather was splendid. There were vendors. Music. Dancing. Costumes.

What a competitive, fund day of racing for two worthy causes!

Loving Arms Cancer Outreach is a gem in our community.

When I was newly diagnosed, I went to pick up wigs and make-up at no charge. I was greeted by Angel, a cancer survivor, who was so polite and helpful to me. I vowed when I finished treatment that I would volunteer.

I began serving on the Advisory Board in 2014 and on the Executive Board this year.

I'm grateful that I've been given an opportunity to serve with an organization that I know packs a big punch to cancer's effect on families through support groups, financial assistance, and more.

Hugs and Love, CC
