43 and loving every minute of it ... ! Birthday post

I haven't written in a while. But, I have had some great things happening over the last couple of weeks.

  • Interview and news article in Marietta Daily Journal

  • Interview with Ron Gant of Good Day Atlanta and Fox 5 News

  • Selected to attend a week long beach retreat for cancer survivors and their families (Thanks Little Pink Houses of Hope www.littlepink.org)

  • (And I hope these things reminded someone to go get a mammogram or helped a survivor who misses their former self that one day you will get it back - keep living)

I count it all joy. God is faithful, and I am grateful for much! Starting with the fact that today is my 43rd birthday! Happpppppppppppppppppppppppyyyyyyyyyyyyy Birthday to me! What a difference a year makes!!!! Coming in a close second is the fact that I'm writing this post from an 11th floor balcony overlooking the ocean and listening to the wonderful sounds of the ocean waves crashing the beach.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

R E L A X A T I O N at its finest!!!

I am using this time to decompress, reflect, and relax. I worked out today while watching a bit of the US Open. I have managed to keep moving. I haven't been as diligent with daily workouts, but I haven't totally slacked either. I have to make better moves on the nutritional tip. I want to truly be healthy, which includes not just aspiring to achieve new goals but to also live them by making lifestyle changes and choices.

I am grateful for the fact that I am less likely to take things for granted these days. One of the blessings in a cancer diagnosis (and, yes - God shows up in the midst of a storm so there are blessings to be found within one) is that a better outlook on LIFE . LIfe is a beautiful gift. Live it amazingly well!! I know many of my survivor friends would agree that we are able to see lots of things differently like appreciating much more than I ever did before about the smallest of things that once were overlooked. I truly appreciate being able to exercise. I may not always want to do it. But, I'm grateful that I can.

From the TRI finish line to the Beach shore line and all the grand things in between, it's been a great month. I am amazed and in awe of His grace and mercy....not because I'm good but because HE is good.

I hope though that what people walk away with is that we CAN do all things through Christ who strengthens us. Write down your plans for the day you WILL feel better. Believe in your heart and mind that you can and will enjoy the 'new normal' that has been given to you. A 'new normal' isn't bad at all when we think about the alternative.

Hugs and Love, CC .... I didn't mean to get mushy nor preachy but what can you say when you're feeling all the love that a birthday brings and reflecting about everything on top of it all ... ;-)
